What happens to you after you die? What would you ask if the dead could talk about life after death? As someone who can communicate with the deceased, I have learned a few things about people in the afterlife that may surprise you.

1)   They have the same personality after death as they did in life

People tend to revere the dead as instantly enlightened, as though they become angelic as soon as they pass, yet this is not the case.

The deceased still have the same awareness, personality, strengths, and weaknesses after death as they did while alive. And unless or until they learn from the life they just left, they will remain the same.

2)   They are free from suffering but not from the lessons of the suffering

Pain and suffering are inescapable conditions of life, yet they are necessary in that they anchor us into the physical world and connect us to our existence.

When someone dies, they leave life’s suffering and pain behind with the physical body. What remains for them is an awareness of the lessons that the pain taught them to further the progression of their soul.

3)   They might not cross over because of you

Death is only the end of one’s physical body – not of one’s awareness. After a while, the awareness will eventually move on from this life to find a new experience in some other form. However, this can’t occur if a soul becomes trapped in the physical realm. And sometimes, the reason they are trapped has to do with the living people who knew them.

There are cases when a soul cannot cross over because someone still alive is overly attached to them. If one mourns for too long, holds a grudge ( unforgiveness ), and/or cannot let go of the deceased soul, it can trap the soul until some resolution occurs.

Because of this, it is essential to find the right amount of time to grieve a death, find forgiveness for the deceased if necessary, and eventually let go.

4)   They don’t spy on you and watch you shower

One of the most common worries people seem to have about the deceased is that they watch the living all the time, everywhere, including when they shower. This thinking is based on the assumption that the physical world and its trappings are as appealing and visible to the dead as they are to the living.

Yet what is more likely is that the deceased cannot view the physical world in the same detail as we do. Furthermore, they will eventually become bored with this reality, as they likely have more to explore on that side of the veil than on this one. It seems reasonable to assume that watching someone shower or dress would quickly lose appeal.

In other words, can they watch you shower? Probably. But would they? If the person would not invade your privacy in life, it’s safe to assume they would not do so in the afterlife.

5)   They can send you signs

Through such practices as manifestation and positive thinking, we prove to ourselves time and again that our thinking has a direct influence on our lives.

Interestingly, dying does not change this influence, although it does lessen its impact on physical life. In this way, a deceased person can still manifest messages for the living via signs and symbols.

Feathers, coins, and animals are some of the most common signs the deceased use to deliver messages to the living. Additionally, images, sounds, and smells specific to the living and their deceased loved ones are also familiar.

6)   They can choose to become a guide for the living

Through the countless afterlife readings I have done, I have noticed that most people seem to have at least one deceased person who has chosen to stay with them and guide them for the rest of their lives.

There are a few reasons why this may be the case for you. One is that the deceased person loves you and, therefore, chooses to stick around to protect and help you.

Another situation would be if the deceased has an interest or talent in common with you and wishes to help influence your work.

Or, it may be because the deceased chooses to further a soul lesson by watching and learning from you. Either way, this knowledge is a great comfort for many.

7)   They want you to know they are not dead

Some theories posit that life is a temporary state of being that serves as a test to teach us – but that it is not our actual reality. And like a bad dream, when we die, we wake up to discover that life is just an illusion.

Judging from the repeating messages from the deceased about life continuing after death, something like this appears to be the case.

8)   They eventually move on

In most cases, deceased souls remain close to physical reality as long as they still have people, places or events that still matter to them or that they can learn from in this realm.

But without the pain, suffering, and limitations of life to deal with any longer, eventually, the deceased realize that they are free to explore all creation. When this occurs, the soul sheds the identity of its former life and steps into the next adventure, whatever the case.

9)   They want you to know you are loved

There are always exceptions to any circumstance, yet the most common message a medium receives from a departed person to convey to the living is, “I love you.”

Life Eternal

Death is the biggest unknown we all face in life. What happens to us after we die is a mystery to the living.

But until your time ends, hopefully, you can use this knowledge of the deceased to find comfort in the truth that life is eternal.
