How to Close Your Third Eye: Psychic Ability Series, Part Three

Note: This is the third installment in a three part series. For part one, click here. For part two, click here.

The third eye is a powerful center of supernatural communication. If you are new to this concept, or you don’t realize the reality of psychic abilities, it may seem that having an open third eye is a super power, or even that it might be fun. And it can be, especially for those who are first discovering their abilities.

Because of this, there is a growing trend to glamorize inner vision. For example, you can find a supernatural program almost nightly on various channels, as well as many movies about the paranormal and psychic phenomenon.

There are also countless groups being formed that teach people to use their psychic abilities, as more and more people seek to take part.  No longer condemned to supposed parlor tricks and charlatans, in today’s world, the supernatural is cool.

The downside of this is that many are approaching the subject without the necessary caution and respect it deserves. As a result, there are a growing number of people who have learned to open their third eye, yet they do not know how to control it. The results of this can be devastating.

Third-Eye Blind

There are many dangers and risks associated with an over-active third eye. Constantly picking-up on others thoughts, feelings and intentions, and/or seeing, sensing, hearing or feeling the presence of non-physical entities can mess with one’s perception of reality. If it continues, it can quite possibly drive one to the brink of insanity.

An over-active third eye can also lead to physical injuries. Headaches, dizziness, issues with the eyes, sinuses, ears and throat, as well as injuries to the kidneys and lower back, are all possible.

This is because the third eye is situated at the sixth chakra, along the main energy channel in the body. So, it has a strong influence on all of the energy meridians in the body, especially those that are linked to it directly, such as those in the lower, second chakra region.  The more energy the third eye uses, the more it siphons it away from these areas.

The mental toll of an open third eye is perhaps more remarkable than any other effect. Even a slightly active third-eye can be overwhelming and frightening.

Unfortunately, these experiences are often dismissed by those who do not understand it as fantasy or fabrication.  This exposes one to ridicule, causing one to feel isolated and thus interfering with a person’s ability to lead a normal life.

For these reasons, an open third eye can become a waking nightmare. If you or someone you know has an over-active third eye center, it is imperative that you learn how to control it.

How to Close Your Third Eye

The third eye becomes open when the sixth chakra is stimulated in such a way that increases the flow of energy to this center. In order to counter-act third eye activity, you must find a way to lessen or stop the flow of energy to this area.

Third Eye Shut Method

Here is a simple but effective method you can use to close your third-eye center:

  1. Sit quietly or stand to do this. Keep your eyes closed and focused up toward the third eye center. This is located in the middle of the forehead, above the eyebrows.
  2. Visualize your third eye as an open window that is beaming with light.
  3. Now picture yourself looking at the world before you. Watch as the world begins to flow into the open window of your third eye. Picture everything being pulled into the window.
  4. Feel a stream flowing into the window, down through your feet and into the center of the earth. You are grounding the energy into the planet.
  5. Stay here for a few minutes, picturing the world disappearing into the window.
  6. Once you are ready, picture yourself closing the window. See it closed and dark.

The length of time you practice this is up to you. However, you may need to repeat the process once a day, for several days, until the third eye activity has ceased.

This method shifts the flow of your internal energy field to bypass the sixth chakra. A regular practice of this will greatly inhibit the activity of your third eye. This is necessary if you wish to stop the barrage of continual psychic stimulation common to an over-active third eye center.

Additional Tips:

While the above method has personally proven to be effective, you may want to consider some additional adjustments you can make to help keep your third eye closed:

  • Limit exposure to electronic devices
  • Keep forehead covered while out of doors (See this article for more information)
  • Stay away from drugs and alcohol
  • Refrain from spiritual practices, meditation, Tai Chi, yoga for awhile
  • Cover your head with a hat or scarf, especially when around others
  • Eat root vegetables and earthy foods to ground you, such as beets, potatoes, carrots, etc.
  • Practice grounding methods daily (Learn how to ground here)
  • Spend time out of doors
  • Take an active part in the world around you via exercise, work, connection with others, or any real-time engagement
  • Keep your focus on the present moment
  • Visualize your third eye as closed regularly

In some cases, the third eye may have been open so forcefully that it cannot be closed through the above methods alone. If you find that these practices do not work for you, seek the help of an experienced shaman or energy healer to help you.
